Come join period soldiers and civilian reenactors for a recreation of the closing days of the war that began with the headline: ”THE UNION IS DISSOLVED!” Here on the very ground that thousands of the Blue and Gray fought one of the last desperate struggles of the War Between the States the very day of that fateful meeting at Appomattox. This was the last major battle of the Civil War and the largest battle in the State of Alabama; April 9, 1865. On the main battlefield: · Period camps and soldier life open to public inspection each day at 9AM-4PM. · Cannon firings with public inspection of precision gun drill through each morning. · Battle reenactments on both Saturday & Sunday starting at 1PM. · Morning and evening combined military parade at 10 and at 4 on Saturday.
