Gulf Coast area teachers are invited to help make history come alive for students by participating in Historic Blakeley State Park's School Outreach Program!
This special in-classroom program allows our professional rangers to demonstrate uniforms and equipment of the type used by the soldiers who fought on Blakeley's battlefield in 1865. In addition to learning more about the Civil War in south Alabama, students will gain a unique understanding of the daily lives of soldiers during the war. We discuss what they wore, what they ate, and the weapons and tools they used. And of course, our knowledgeable staff will be available to answer any questions young inquiring minds might ask about Civil War soldier life! Programs are generally 45 minutes in length, but may be customized depending on class size and time requirements.
